In an office environment, there are some basic technical abilities that we are all expected to know. As an executive, there are times that we do not feel as proficient as we should with technology. The world of office systems are so complex, that there is no way to know all office applications without an advanced degree in computer science.
Think back....
Were there situations where co-workers, peers or subordinates had technical ability superior to your own, where you had to keep going back for help again and again?
You have achieved success in your executive level because of education, experience and hard work. Learning all the "techy" aspects of your office computer systems was not a pre-requisite to your success. However, there are some basic computer and tech skills that everyone in an office needs to seem "computer literate". Constantly asking your peers (or even your helpdesk) can be a challenging situation, even for the most confident executive.
Like you, I am an established business executive; but with a great ability to learn, understand and help you to gain a confident understanding of how to use your own technology. I have experienced many of the same challenges you have, and have successfully helped others to get the best out of their technology.
My peer-tutoring and "how to's" are not learned in a classroom setting, where no-one has the time or flexibility. You learn by actually doing things hands-on, and by watching someone else who has already figured it out.
Unfortunately, many H/R departments help executives by sending you on an advanced Excel course to get trained. Others make a helpdesk available if your printer won't print. But few make available a private tutor to familiarize an executive to feel confident and effective in navigating the corporate network and IT systems.
Executive tech tutoring and coaching is done "off the grid" and outside of business hours. This way the activity that you display in the office come across as your own technical skill.
Imagine, that now you can present the confidence that you can do your job effectively, and have the confiednce in handling of the technology to help you produce the results you want.
